Poppy demonstrates her commitment to social justice and to her community through her work with a variety of service organizations. Her service aligns with her deep commitment to community, and to her belief in a shared responsibility toward more just and equitable experiences for all people, especially those whose voices are not traditionally represented.
WOMEN'S MARCH SAN DIEGO
Since its founding in 2016, Poppy has been involved in the planning and execution of the San Diego Women’s Marches, occurring annually in January and drawing upwards of 40,000 participants, serving as Board Secretary. LEARN MORE.

SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY-BASED BLOCK PROGRAM
As an alumnus of San Diego State University, Poppy serves on the Executive Committee for the CBB for Life Foundation, benefitting the university’s Community-Based Block program, which provides multicultural community counseling and social justice education, and prepares graduates to become licensed professional clinical counselors. COMMUNITY REVIEW BOARD ON POLICE PRACTICES
In 2018, Poppy was appointed to serve on the San Diego Community Review Board on Police Practices, whose purpose is to provide public oversight and evaluation of community lodged complaints against officers of the Police Department of the City of San Diego, review the administration of discipline arising from complaints, and to review and evaluate officer-involved shootings and in-custody deaths.
